Annotations for Be With You

Lyric: I won’t go quiet into the night
I’ll rage against the dying light
Annotation:
Muse references here the epic poem by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, titled Do not go gentle into that good night. The poem about defiance, a frequent Muse theme, opens with this stanza Do not go gentle into that good night Old age should burn and rave at the close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Here, Muse weaves variations of two of those opening lines into this declaration that no obstacle will be left unchallenged in the quest to return to his love.
